Nothing strikes a sense of adventure more than the sight of a tall ship in the harbor. Even the hardened landlubber can’t resist visions of journeys to exotic islands in uncharted seas the instant they view the lofty crow's nest sitting among the intricate rigging lacing the tall masts.

You will have your chance to live out your sailing dream this week to the 12th of September.
The Lady Washington, owned by Grays Harbor Historical Seaport, and designated as the official ship of Washington State is in the City Pier of Port Angeles and she is quite the sight!

Robert Gray's expedition to the Pacific Northwest in 1788 – is planned to be available from noon to 4:30 p.m. Friday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday through Monday, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sept. 10 and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 11-12.

$20 Round Trip Victoria to Port Angeles – 20th Anniversary Special
We invite our neighbors from Victoria to come and visit these reminders of a bygone era. For only $20 round trip you can set your own high seas adventure and sail the Strait of Juan de Fuca to visit these beauties. From Victoria call 250-361-9144. Be sure to bring proper ID.
You are invited to catch a glimpse of the rich heritage of a culture that has continuously inhabited the northwestern corner of the bountiful Olympic Peninsula for thousands of years. The Makah Cultural and Research Museum in Neah Bay is the largest pre-contact Northwest Coast Native American collection in the country.

Located on the western end of the Olympic Peninsula, this museum houses only a small fraction of the artifacts uncovered by tidal erosion in 1970. Replicas of oceangoing canoes and a full scale cedar longhouse are displayed. A mudslide had covered the site several hundred years ago.
The 300 to 500 year old artifacts representing the culture and lifestyle of a Makah whaling village in Ozette have been classified as one the most significant archaeological discoveries ever made in North America!

For a preliminary visit you can go to their online museum to explore the Makah way of life. Come join the exploration and celebrate the Makah heritage! You can rent a car from Budget car rental located across the street from our terminal in the Landing Mall.

Our 2010 Ferry Service between Victoria and Port Angeles ends September 19. Take advantage of our 20 year anniversary Special - $20 Round Trip tickets between Victoria and Port Angeles.
On clear, summer days, the best activity is sometimes simply being outside and enjoying the view. Taking the fastest 55 minute ferry between Victoria, BC and Port Angeles, WA is one great way to see snow-capped mountains and crystal blue seas. Another is to walk or bike along the Olympic Discovery Trail once you arrive in Port Angeles.
The ultimate goal of the Olympic Discovery Trail is to connect the Hood Canal Bridge to Forks (including a spar to Port Townsend) and provide a safe pedestrian and bike trail across the Olympic Peninsula. It's an admirable goal, and we all look forward to its completion. In the meantime, we happily explore the completed sections of the Olympic Discovery Trail.

This trail runs in front of the Landing Mall where our terminal is located. From the terminal head east and you will pass Hollywood beach in front of the Red Lion Inn. We can book your overnight lodging at the Red Lion if you plan to spend the night.
The trail is level in many sections and is ideal for families of all ages. As you continue to the east you will enjoy expansive views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Vancouver Island, and off in the distance, Mount Baker. If you have enough energy, the trail will take you almost the entire way to Sequim (about fifteen miles), where you can dine at one of several excellent restaurants: The Alder Wood Bistro features terrific wood-fired cuisine and an extensive wine list in an intimate setting, and the Dockside Grill in the John Wayne Marina overlooks lovely Sequim Bay.

Should you head west on the trail from our Port Angeles ferry terminal, you'll discover the Port Angeles Waterfront Trail at Ediz Hook. This thin strip of land jutting out into the Strait of Juan de Fuca affords jaw-dropping views of the Olympic Mountains rising behind historic Port Angeles. Bring your camera, bring a picnic, and find a spot to sit and soak in the views.

Before your return trip aboard the ferry to Victoria, stop for a bite to eat and a drink in the Landing Mall, where we are located. Wine on The Waterfront is a great spot to try a glass of Washington State Wine (they also have wine from around the globe), and good food in a casual atmosphere is found at Downriggers Restaurant and Smugglers Restaurant.

The Downtown Underground Tour is one of the most interesting ways to spend some time in Port Angeles. They recently were named one of the Top 5 Best City Tours in the Northwest - quite an honor considering the competition.
Historic walking tours run every 30 minutes during the weekend, and include a visit to the Port Angeles Underground. Port Angeles was long an important logging center for the Olympic Peninsula. The downtown area streets were raised in the early 1900s and many fine older buildings were lost; their remains were recently discovered underground and a restoration process has begun. Gain insight into the true history of Port Angeles (brothels? who knew?). Learn even more, and have more fun during the Port Angeles Heritage Weekend, August 8 and 9, 2010.

How do they manage to get under our skin, and keep us up at nights thinking about them, reading books about them, watching movies about them? It seems that most everyone is fascinated at some point between young at heart and the golden years – they are so alluring, mysterious, and strangely attractive. Bram Stoker knew their appeal. So did Anne Rice. And now Stephenie Meyers has tapped into the world of the Undead with her Twilight series. The books are wildly popular as the movies.

Those of us who live in the Pacific Northwest are proud of Forks, Washington, which is home for the Cullen family. We want to show visitors around. Twilight fans from Victoria will be pleased to learn that they can go from Victoria to the land of Vampires and Werewolves in Just One Day.
The passenger ferry from Victoria to Port Angeles departs at 9:45 AM; upon arrival in Port Angeles, visitors will be swept away to Forks in style by Dazzled by Twilight Tours , where you will have time to explore the town where the Cullens don’t sleep and Chief Swan keeps law and order. At 3pm you will be taken to the house Bella and Charlie call home, the Cullen House, The Hospital where Dr. Cullen works and the Police Station where Chief Swan spends his days when he isn’t out fishing.
Across the treaty line in Werewolf territory, you will learn the history of the Quilieute People while gliding past some of the most incredible scenery in the northwest – the Washington Coastline. You will see where Jacob went to school and where he lives now. And of course, no Twilight Tour is complete without a stop in Port Angeles, where Edward and Bella had their first date. You’ll have time to visit local Twilight landmarks before boarding the ferry from Port Angeles to Victoria, which departs for Victoria at 9:30pm.
It is a full day, to be sure, and it is well worth it. If you are visiting the Pacific Northwest, when is the next time you will be able to get such a glimpse into the Forks of Twilight? If you live in the Pacific Northwest, you simply must experience the Forks of Vampires and Werewolves. Call the Victoria Express for details: 250-361-9144 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Make this a special party and we can make all of your arrangements.

Meet the farmers, pick your own lavender, and watch culinary demonstrations - they may change the way you think about lavender forever. Growers will share with you their techniques for cultivating, drying and using lavender. In addition, several farms will have "fun in the field", events and activities for children. Each Farm on Tour features special programs including arts and crafts.

This is a lovely time to make your reservation for the Victoria Express Lavender Festival Day Cruise and visit the Olympic Peninsula's Rain Shadow, with sunshine, stunning views of the Olympic Mountains, and Mount Baker standing tall across the Straits of Juan de Fuca. The views are simply magnificent; and then there is the lavender.

Field after field of lavender in full bloom awaits attendees of the Sequim Lavender Festival. The subtle, pleasant fragrance of lavender fills the air. It's worth going simply to stroll through row after row of these picturesque plants. You'll think you've been transported to Provence, in the South of France.
Farms may offer lovely lavender lemonade or unforgettable lavender ice cream. Chefs demonstrate how to cook savory and sweet foods with lavender. Farm stores offer lavender satchels, soaps, creams, and a plethora of other interesting and useful lavender based items. Learn about the different varieties, from Royal Purple to Grosso; then walk the fields and pick your own, or choose lavender that has been harvested and bundled for you.
The streets of downtown Sequim fill with the Lavender Street Fair. Colorful booths are filled with handcrafted products, art, and, of course, lavender. Farms booths sell locally grown produce. A food court tempts the taste buds with such decadent items as bacon wrapped scallops on a tortilla, grilled salmon sandwiches, and pan seared lamb. A Wine and Beer Garden features wines from Olympic Peninsula Wineries and brews from Deschutes Brewery of Bend, Oregon. The Main Stage keeps toes tapping with Gypsy Jazz by Pearl D'Jango, Bluegrass by Crescent Blue, and Folk/Rock by Kevin Magner, among others.
