For a culinary experience you will never forget you must check out one of the best kept secrets in Victoria. You may have heard rumors of a Legislative Dinning Room in the Parliament building that was open to the public. Now is the time to find out what it is all about.

Victoria is the capital city of British Columbia and the Parliament buildings are where the BC Provincial Government assembles to make the laws and decisions of the province and it is also where the legislation assemblies are held.
Located across the street from the Inner Harbour, the Parliament buildings are easy to access from our terminal and offer one of the most striking landmarks to visit, tour, photograph....and even experience a great lunch.
Yes, it does indeed exist, the food is delicious and it is even at a great price.

This best kept secret is located in the main building where a free guided tour is available during the summer. In the evening the BC Parliament Buildings light up the skyline with over 3,300 light bulbs casting a 'magical spell' throughout the Inner Harbour of Victoria, BC.

Victoria Express, the fast passenger ferry service connecting Port Angeles with the historical Inner Harbour of Victoria BC and beautiful Friday Harbor on San Juan Island is extending the 50% active & retired Military Discount to the Canadian Armed Forces. Pirates Invade Bastion Square - Due to the popularity of Pirates, the Maritime Museum of BC’s Pirate School, sponsored by Coast Capital Savings, will be taking up a more permanent residence at the museum in Bastion Square. Previously enjoyed at local festivals and events, Pirate School can now be attended right in front of the Museum from Thursday to Sunday 11:00am – 2:00pm for the rest of the summer beginning on the 22nd.

Having run for over ten years now, Victoria has its fair share of proud Pirate School graduates. One such lass is Deirdre Campbell, the Museum’s current Pirate School Coordinator. “Kids adore Pirate School and it is an excellent way to connect the Museum with the community”, she says, “they learn all about the pirate way of life and we enjoy teaching them!” Prepare for an influx of dastardly looking mateys in the downtown core. Aspiring pirates can battle with balloon swords, get decked out with “tattoos” or learn how to hunt down pirate booty. Landlubbers be warned.
Bobbi Fuller, owner of the Elwha Dam RV Park just east of Port Angeles shares this story with travelers visiting the Pacific Northwest: “If you are researching points of interest, breath-taking "must see" places to visit, and fun things to do while visiting the Olympic Peninsula, be sure to put on the top of your ‘To Do’ list a boat ride with "Captain Jack" on the Victoria Express passenger ferry.

Of course that means a quick 55 minute sailing to beautiful Victoria B.C. or a full day cruise to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island in the Salish Sea. “Captain Jack” will enthusiastically name all of the sea birds and other critters encountered on the cruise. In fact, he may even make an opportunity for passengers to enjoy a few moments watching the dolphins, Orcas, harbor seals, or sea otters playing in the kelp; all the while keeping on time with his Victoria BC, Friday Harbor and Port Angeles passenger ferry schedules.

Magnificent views of Butchart Gardens can be enjoyed during any season, but summer at The Gardens is breathtaking. Ravishing floral splendor greets you at every turn.

As the brilliant light of the sun retires for the day and dusk falls, The Gardens' other personality takes over. Thousands of lights, of varying intensity and colour, bring out a different look and feel to the gardens. With great skill, the lighting artists on staff use the play of light and shadow to cast a magical glow upon the shrubs and trees, and upon the flower beds as well. This nightly transformation into a wonderland of light is known as Night Illuminations and will be available to September 15th.
Each summer evening the Concert Lawn stage comes alive with a variety of performing artists.

Come sit on a bench, or bring a blanket for the lawn and enjoy marvelous music and entertainment in the open air. Even the swallows seem to be influenced by the music as they sweep back and forth over the lawn.

Summer Saturday night visitors in July though to the Labor Day weekend will be thrilled by the pyrotechnic marvels of one of the most extravagant firework displays in North America. The concerts are timed to end with enough time to allow visitors to stroll across to the Fireworks lawn.

Victoria's Killer Dinner Theatre
Presents
“Murder on the Oriental Rug!”
Move over -- or roll over-- Agatha Christie! Victoria's Killer Dinner Theatre is about to unveil a mystery dinner show that spoofs old-fashioned whodunits, the medical profession, “female problems,” and theater folks! When half the cast of “Murder on the Oriental Rug” bails out, the remaining performers are stuck playing all the roles. During the first act, you’ll meet a Shakespearean actor with a drinking problem, a washed-up former child star, a bimbo with a short memory, and a hapless costumer who finds herself onstage -- playing a man.
During the “play within a play,” you’ll visit the exclusive clinic of Dr. Charles Ovary, renowned hot flash specialist who’s secretly treating a famous actress trying desperately to regain her youth. You’ll get to know the doctor’s devoted but clueless wife, his passionate female protégé, the actresses’ hunky husband, a flighty French maid, a shifty handyman, and an inspector investigating the dead body on the Oriental rug.
Will the play make it to Broadway? Will the performers remember their lines? Will the Shakespearean actor fit into the maid’s costume? Will the chalk outline come out of the rug? Will the inspector solve the murder? Will another murder occur?
Before the evening’s over, someone else will be ruthlessly murdered, and it’s up to the audience to solve the crime.

Victoria's Killer Dinner Theatre is presented at the Travelodge Victoria, 229 Gorge Road East.
Tickets are $39.99 and includes a 3 course dinner plus the show. (drinks excluded) The show opens Saturday June 26, and runs Fridays & Saturdays throughout the summer beginning at 6:30pm.
Reservations can be made by calling 250-361-6246.

Consider exploring the gardens of Victoria the next time you ride the ferry to Victoria.
Butchart Gardens comes to mind right away when folks think about the Gardens of Victoria. Summer at Butchart Gardens is splendid. Everything is in bloom. Night Illuminations start June 15. Each evening as the light fades, trees, shrubs and flower beds start to glow thanks to the magic and skill of lighting artists. Live music adds to the allure nightly, starting July 3. Butchart Gardens is a wonderful place to bring the whole family.
There is another garden in Victoria worth a peek. Abkhazi Garden is a mere 1-acre, but it is lush, colorful and romantic. Abkhazi Garden was the creation of Marjorie Pemberton-Carter and Russian Prince Nicholas Abkhazi, who fell in love, endured separation and imprisonment, rediscovered one another, married, and built a life together in Victoria. Their garden is their legacy.
A hornbeam hedge hides a garden fit for royalty from the street. The design works harmoniously with land that features dramatic rocky slopes, large Garry oaks and stunning views. The Abkhazis loving cultivated their garden together for more than forty years, and visitors today walk among mature Japanese maples and rhododendrons. The Abkhazi's former house is now a tearoom and gift shop.
