Cirque du Soleil is currently touring with its new show, Allegria, and will be in Victoria at Save on Foods Memorial Centre September 8 - 12, 2010. Take advantage of the passenger ferry between Port Angeles and Victoria and see this captivating show. Thanks to our 2010 20th Anniversary Special, fares to Victoria are only $10 (one way).
Allegria is defined as "a mood, a state of mind". As always, Cirque du Soleil takes this theme, explores it, and expands it in mind-boggling ways. Sit back and let the passage of time wash over you, watching as power is handed down from generation to generation, and monarchies evolve into democracies.
Watch synchronized trapeze, hand balancing, the flying man, and a fire-knife dance. The contortion and manipulation is astounding. The Aerial High Bar amazing. Meet Fleur, The White Singer, The Black Singer, and several Nostalgic Old Birds. Listen to a powerful, mesmerizing combination of jazz, pop, tango and klezmer music.
But don't just travel to Victoria for Cirque du Soleil's Allegria. Spend a night or two at one of the city's luxurious hotels. Dine in one of hundreds of restaurants. Visit the lovely Parliament Buildings, Craigdarroch Castle, and Butchart Gardens.
Victoria Express will handle all of your travel arrangements, including lodging and tours. We work closely with aq variety of hotels in Victoria, and will find one that best meets your needs. All you need to do is pack your bag and head to our Port Angeles Ferry Terminal.

On clear, summer days, the best activity is sometimes simply being outside and enjoying the view. Taking the fastest 55 minute ferry between Victoria, BC and Port Angeles, WA is one great way to see snow-capped mountains and crystal blue seas. Another is to walk or bike along the Olympic Discovery Trail once you arrive in Port Angeles.
The ultimate goal of the Olympic Discovery Trail is to connect the Hood Canal Bridge to Forks (including a spar to Port Townsend) and provide a safe pedestrian and bike trail across the Olympic Peninsula. It's an admirable goal, and we all look forward to its completion. In the meantime, we happily explore the completed sections of the Olympic Discovery Trail.

This trail runs in front of the Landing Mall where our terminal is located. From the terminal head east and you will pass Hollywood beach in front of the Red Lion Inn. We can book your overnight lodging at the Red Lion if you plan to spend the night.
The trail is level in many sections and is ideal for families of all ages. As you continue to the east you will enjoy expansive views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Vancouver Island, and off in the distance, Mount Baker. If you have enough energy, the trail will take you almost the entire way to Sequim (about fifteen miles), where you can dine at one of several excellent restaurants: The Alder Wood Bistro features terrific wood-fired cuisine and an extensive wine list in an intimate setting, and the Dockside Grill in the John Wayne Marina overlooks lovely Sequim Bay.

Should you head west on the trail from our Port Angeles ferry terminal, you'll discover the Port Angeles Waterfront Trail at Ediz Hook. This thin strip of land jutting out into the Strait of Juan de Fuca affords jaw-dropping views of the Olympic Mountains rising behind historic Port Angeles. Bring your camera, bring a picnic, and find a spot to sit and soak in the views.

Before your return trip aboard the ferry to Victoria, stop for a bite to eat and a drink in the Landing Mall, where we are located. Wine on The Waterfront is a great spot to try a glass of Washington State Wine (they also have wine from around the globe), and good food in a casual atmosphere is found at Downriggers Restaurant and Smugglers Restaurant.

Where can you find a juried arts and crafts show featuring nearly 50 artisans, live music and dancing, a world-class invitational sand sculpture contest, great food and drink, two classic car shows, live art demonstrations, all in a fun street-fair atmosphere in a beautiful waterfront setting?

It's all there for your enjoyment at Port Angeles Rotary Nor'wester "Arts in Action Festival", July 23-25, 2010, at the Port Angeles city pier. Artisans from throughout the Puget Sound region will display, demonstrate and sell their crafts and artistic creations. New to the festival this year is the Port Angeles Art Council, providing art demonstrations and interactive art projects at the Gateway Center. Festival Sponsor Windermere Real Estate welcomes eight world-class sand artists to the Invitational Sand Sculpture Competition.

This year's theme is "Legends of Science Fiction". Come and see these artists create amazing and gravity-defying sand sculptures, all while they compete for qualifying spots in the international sand sculpture final competition to be held in Federal Way, Washington later this summer. What would summer be without the chance to view and admire classic cars? On Saturday the Festival features the Dream Machines and on Sunday we will have Porches on the Pier.

A wide variety of live entertainment will be on stage throughout the Festival. Food vendors and a beer and wine garden will fill your hunger and thirst. Festival hours are Noon to 7 Friday, 10 - 8 Saturday, and 11 to 5 Sunday. We look forward to seeing you there. Be sure to check out all of the action at the Landing Mall just across the parking lot from the festival action: restaurants, art galleries, a souvenir shop and the Victoria Express terminal.
